PaaV Podcast #9

Crazy week! Both wonderful and depressing, but we are going to focus on the wonderful because we’re optimists like that.
Notes:
- Liz forgot to comment about the kiss being cheating or not. So she’s making a special appearance in the notes to add her thoughts. Yes, I think it will be seen as cheating, or at least a very painful betrayal, by Natalia. I do not think Olivia sees it as a big deal – but its pretty well established she has shitty morals in this area. And Natalia, I mean, Gus cheated on Harley with her too, but I know Nat felt awful about it. And it was a ‘true love’ (gross) thing. So, I think Natalia, if she finds out, will be hurt – but get over it fairly quickly when she understands Olivia’s head space. Back to your regularly scheduled Dani brilliance.
- Dani is a simple girl and prefers Dove “soap” – they even sell it at regular Targets, no ID/hats/sunglasses necessary, and yes it comes wrapped in a pretty box. Liz prefers Caress because obvs, it has a way better name.
- For reference, the stanky leg
- Also for reference, “Wiggle It”
- Our tenth podcast is coming up, and we plan to do a super special top ten list to celebrate. Be thinking about your own top ten Otalia moments.
- If you take us anywhere, we want pics. Shopping (soap store or not), work, trips, Grandma’s house. We don’t care- we want documentation for a rad idea Liz has (it only happens occasionally, support it when you can).
- You too can own Natalia’s shawl/poncho/bedspread!

Just a note to say that you both are hilarious! I love your analysis, perspective, and humor. Keep up the great work!

Lynda, you’re always my number one.
Micah, thanks so much! Thats so nice!!

My own personal interpretation of the Olivia/Josh muffin scene:
Josh: Dare
Olivia: Double Dare
Josh: I’ll take the Physical Challenge.
Olivia: Mmmmm…not so much. (Leaving Josh to compete in ‘Pie in Your Pants’ alone.)
Fantastic podcast as always. I will love you guys “every day for the history of ever.”
Dani on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 11:15 am
Heather, that Double Dare interpretation just cracked my shit up. Seriously, hilarious! And a perfect description.
Also, you win many, many cool points for a Double Dare reference in the first place.
In short, I heart you and that comment.
ashleelynn7 on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 11:32 am
I was so hoping you guys would have this up before I leave for my vacation!
I haven’t listened yet because I’m saving you guys as my entertainment for my road trip to Iowa. What’s in Iowa ya say? Well…I have no idea, but I’m going there and I hear there will be lots of booze so I’m in
Maybe I’ll even catch a gay wedding or two while I’m there
But I am certain that this pod is filled with awesomeness, snarkiness, wittiness…and all sorts of other adjectives that I can’t come up with right now. (I told you I wouldn’t be able to think of any more)
Back to my point, You guys totally rock and I can’t wait to take a gander into your thoughts for this week. hope you guys have a fantastic Otalified week!
Liz on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 12:25 pm
Ashlee- take pics!! I want to see us and corn. Thats all Im saying.
stargazzer77 on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 1:00 pm
Only listened to the beginning of the pod i’ll listen to the rest when i get to work, but i agree with you about CC joining DOOL, i was real sad at the thought of Otalia ending but happy for Crystal.
And The Hives intro ROCKS!!!
Diane on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 1:00 pm
like losing your favorite player. nomar was my first thought, too, dani. but then again, look how that turned out? not that i’m wishing nomar’s pain on olivia, but i am honored to think even a little bit like you think.
Lana, Snapper, Whatever on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 1:30 pm
You chicks rock, yadda, yadda, yadda…you know you’re just like Olivia: you like hearing it and you want the grand gesture. But, it’s true, you’re pretty awesome, and this week’s podcast was great – good on both of you for not letting the somber coffin-closing on GL dampen the greatest week of Otalia goodness, thus far.
As far as top ten Otalia moments, I know people love the kiss, and thent he near-kiss at the hospital (one of my faves), and the cemetery confession…etc. My all-time favorite Otalia moment is a little goofy and weird, but I love it;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVcLVLyb_bY&feature=related&pos=1
Skip to 5:26 ….this tiny exchange always makes me happy. It’s Natalia being Natalia, and Olivia being sooooo Olivia. How could you not love it?
Bex on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 1:38 pm
My first time commenting, but not my first time listening. Been loving the podcast for the last few weeks and have become completely addicted!! I was looking forward to listening all day at school today!
So, just want to say that I LOVE you guys. I pick up so many new things from you and your analysis is brillant. (Is it weird that I have the youtube videos on in the background while I’m listening to you talk about them??)
Also want to say that that line a few weeks ago about “There’s never a good time to tell your son you get all the jokes on Will&Grace.” made me laugh SOOO hard, I had to pause the podcast for about ten minutes and I’ve been telling all my friends about it!!
And this is how much I love listening to you guys; we had a HUGE storm here tonight and I didn’t stop listening to you even though my house was flooding. (Seriously, my roof was leaking!) XD
Thanks for all the great work and looking forward to next week!

It’s so less exotic than taking you guys along on road trips to places, but I’ve fallen into the habit of listening while playing several games of Mahjong on my computer. Lame, yes…but so is life.
Also, I feel like such a bad CC fan. I didn’t even recognize/remember that the outfit she was wearing for the Tello interview was the same she was wearing for the wine-on-the-bed scene. Blerg.
greenivy8 on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 2:22 pm
it only took me 5.5 hours to listen to this podcast, my boss has this hang up about ‘working’, but it was worth it. there were so many gems but i have to say that the declaration of Jane’s ugly dress as a side note to her going off to whore it up is when i lost it. My hearty laughs caused confusion amongst my coworkers, but they already think I’m a nerd so no real loss there.
BTW – i’m off to Costa Rica in two weeks and you are so coming on the plane with me and if I can hold off, maybe into the rainforest as well
SelmaHinkley on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 3:01 pm
you guys crack me up. i took u along as i walked around town, running errands. not the best idea because i nearly busted out laughing whilst standing in the dwp line
…i want to thank you both for being so light-hearted yet poignant about the cc/otalia news. i get that i should be happy for cc–after all, girls gotta eat–but it IS the end of our common obsession; i should be able to grieve. in general, i feel like other sites/boards are trying to sweep people like me under the carpet because we’re perceived as cc haters, but that’s totally not the case. anyways, i’m glad that your voice (podcast) once again pinpointed my sentiments and put them out into the otalia-sphere. thanks! xoxo
p.s. liz, you kind of remind me of liz feldman, on account of the name and the reference to having people’s babies. has anyone else ever mentioned that to you?
Liz on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 5:43 pm
Heather, Double Dare- 100 ways of awesome!
Seriously, take pics. In case you didnt get the point of that already.

We lurve it.
Ashlee- last night I was like, we really need to have this up before Ashlee leaves! Glad we made it.
Stargazzer- Yeah. Its a fine line. But we’re selfish bitches so we’re going with mainly bummed. lol
Lana- I LOVE hearing that! haha Im a slut, I admit it freely. And the kiss- not on my top ten.
Bex- that line still gets me. How genius is Dani? I mean really. However, I do feel like flooding should rule over us. I hope everythings ok and you’re all dried out now! Thanks for listening and for the comment.
Selma- want pics of that too! There is no sweeping here. We dont sweep when something sucks, and this news kinda sucks for us a little. And also, thats a HUGE compliment I do not deserve, but thank you. I love me some Liz Feldman. I would have Liz Feldman’s finger babies any day.
XO
Ana on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 6:23 pm
Seriously, the only good thing about Otalia coming to an end in Sept, is that people will stop looking at me weird at work. I look like a freakin fool sitting in my cube, listening to you guys and cracking up.
Another very insightful podcast, here are a few quick notes I took (obviously not getting much work done either)
1. Loved Dani’s baseball analogy about CC, exactly how I feel (huge Yankees fan- thank God Jeter is still there)
2. I need my life back, this has become a total obsession
3. Agree with Liz the fandom that this has created is amazing, never been in a group where the people are so nice and supportive, for that alone, Otalia should live on 4ever
4. How the frak did CBS ever let this happen. The last couple of months have been amazing, last week was the best television I have seen in a very long time IMNSHO (BTW – I’m a huge TV dork so I’m very confident in stating that)
BTW haven’t taken you guys on a road trip, but does the mall count? We went shopping 2gether last week, and we didnt’t buy soap
til next week

Porter on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 6:36 pm
As sucking vortexes go, PaaV was surprisingly gentle, so thanks for that. :p
I am completely convinced that life is just one big WB cartoon. I mean, the months between My Two Mommies and the Wedding That Wasn’t was just one big Coyote/Roadrunner scenario, with Olivia E. Coyote falling off cliffs and blowing shit up when she wasn’t already smashed into a solid rock face with a fake tunnel painted on it, only to have Natalia Roadrunner come stand over the crumpled body, just out of reach, leaving with a “Meep, Meep” just to remind us she didn’t mind being chased. And, completely beside the point, I do a mean Elmer Fudd impression and an excellent Count von Count from Sesame Street.
Ok, on to the podcast!
- I concur; it was not a sexy raisin feeding. Now if it had been a chocolate chip delivered with a melty side along the lip…
- CC devouring her muffin with wonton abandon during the “Muffin Exchange” was so freakin’ awesome. Did we really need dialogue at all? I
- “Rage Timer” may be my new favorite PaaV coinage. I plan on using it in RL as much as possible.
- I say forget “Hands of my Muffin!” t-shirts/bumper stickers and vote for “Soap Can Be a Two Player Game.”
- On Hotsnaking…now that I’ve been made aware of the full and intended meaning, I sympathy hotsnack just a little every time Dani says it now.
- That little sigh/moan…soan? migh?…JL sometimes does during hugs/especially serious hand holding/neck nuzzles just turns my cold heart into a sloppy puddle of love.
And lastly, I happened to be on the road during the beep cut flashback clip and ensuing “Soap” discussion and would like to publicly apologize to my fellow travelers on I-82 at about 2pm for my erratic driving. I would also like to thank the Benton County Sheriff’s Officer for not making me take a field sobriety test and for believing that I was not actually inebriated but was just temporarily blinded from tears of laughter…Thanks for the warning Officer Keane!

Had to pop by and comment to Porter. LMAO!!! I could totally see Natalia *meep, meep* roadrunner and Olivia E. Coyote. And thanks bunches but you’ve forever ruined Otalia for me…you will be hearing from my lawyer. LOL And yes, also some Animaniacs thrown in for good measure. I often look at Nat and some of her faces (a la busted cookie face), *ding* she’s hit on some deep-rooted cartoon reference point, and I’m rolling. So okay it wasn’t all you, but still *meep meep*

Hey, first time commenter on the blog. You took my twitter virginity and now I’m posting on your blog.
This is strange, I’m usually incredibly anti-social, but something about you two makes me want to participate.
Anyway, great podcast guys, as always.
My thoughts on last week, be prepared. It’s an extensive list:
*For about five seconds, I desperately wished that I was a baked pastry.
*I own several different varieties, of uhm, soap. And I don’t think having…soap, is anything to be embarrassed about. Cheers to GL for promoting good hygiene.
*As distracting as that silvery, emergency fire blanket Natalia wore was(there’s a joke about smoldering looks here, but I’m too tired at the moment to be clever), the scene on the porch was fantastic. But throughout the entire scene I was thinking, “Bitches MAKEOUT!” (Thanks Dani)
*I love that immediately after Olivia and Blake parted ways, Blake, armed with the knowledge that Josh was out searching for muffins, eagerly offered her muffin to be buttered. He declined, claiming he was on a low-carb diet. However, if Reva offered him her icky muffin, he would be all over that. Personally, I’d eat Blake’s muffin over Reva’s any day.
*I still hate Frank. Aren’t we supposed to start liking him at some point? He obviously isn’t over Natalia, and it seems to me he is partially using Rafe as an excuse to stay in her life. Others say, that Frank is helping Rafe out of his genuine concern for Rafe. What do you guys think?
*I know you guys aren’t soap fans, and don’t know much about DOOL, or as my family calls it, DAYS. I used to watch DAYS back when I was wee one, after Carly had already come and gone, so for me, Bo and Hope are the OTP. But lately, the show has been sucking so hard it’s barely watchable. (But,I’ve only watched it on and off for the past three years.)Bo and Hope have no storyline, so the return of Carly could give them something to do, for a while anyway. Days will inevitably screw up CC’s return, and the fact that she agreed to come back without knowing what her s/l is, worries me. But I will probably watch it, just because CC is awesome.
Also, CC’s webseries sounds very interesting.(and by interesting, I mean fucking awesome.) OUT businesswoman? Yes, please. I’ll take three.
Anyway, that was way longer then I intended it to be, but you want comments, right? So, there you go.
You’re welcome.

Dani may have gotten “geek points” for her use of the The Twilight Zone opening, but I think Liz may have taken the round simply with the use of the word “pashmina”. I’m just sayin’…

This is my first time to listen to this podcast. It is wonderful, honest, and insightful. Very refreshing! LMAO Church cookie committee.. HAHAHAHAH.. Cheap ass millionaire.. OHMY this is fantastic! This clearly the most I have laughed in days!!!
Dani on Mon, 15th Jun 2009 11:59 pm
Stargazzer – Hi twin! It’s okay to be upset, if anyone tells you differently, they’re WRONG!
Diane – I am so amused someone else appreciated that Nomar reference! I tried to keep it short (so Liz wouldn’t fall asleep), but I really could have gone on and on about how the day Nomar got traded was one of the most heartbreaking days of my life. And yes, it turned out for the best (and I’d trade him 1000 times if it means winning the World Series), but it still sucked at the time.
Lana – Nice. I’m with Liz, the kiss is actually not in my top 10 either.
Bex – Yay, we love first timers. We promise to treat you better than the people at Rocky Horror Picture Show. You’re asking two geeks who obsess over a soap couple and spend hours every week analyzing it if it’s geeky to watch clips? Ha ha ha.
Also, I’m so amused at how much that Will and Grace comment keeps getting brought up – obviously I was making a joke at the time, but I seriously didn’t think it was that epic. You guys are hilarious, anyway, glad you enjoyed it.
Kennedy – You’re forgiven for not noticing the outfit because you were likely completely distracted by that scene. At least I was.
Greenivy – Yes! I’ve always wanted to go to Costa Rica. And yeah, Jane is a total slut. Which makes me kind of like her.
Selma – Thank you for saying that. We just personally felt it was better to be honest. Learning Otalia will likely end on Sept. 18th just sucked, any way you slice it. Why pretend otherwise? I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again – just because we’re sad about Otalia does not mean we don’t love CC and wish her the best. She did what she had to do, GL is a cancelled show. Sad and it sucks, though.
Ana – Even though you just admitted you’re a Yankees fan, I still like you.
CBS is run by morons, clearly. And yes, when the obsession ends many of us will get our lives back, but at the same time, there will definitely be a void. A muffin-less, martini-less, farmhouse, Towers, and Company-less void. I love to shop, so yes, that totally counts!
Porter – I loved your roadrunner/coyote analogy. Genius. And yes, I instantly wanted a muffin watching that scene. Why does Dunkin’ Donuts not have apple butter muffins? Bastards.
“Soap Can Be a Two Player Game” – ahahahahaha! That is so going on our first round of stickers.
Crap, did you actually get pulled over? If you ever need to get bailed out and it’s our fault, use your one phone call to skype us.
Kish – Brilliant, right?
Notoaster – Yay, another first timer! Welcome to the shenanigans.
I completely agree with you re: soap. I’m proud to call myself a squeaky clean gal, and I love that GL tackled this subject.
Re: Frank/Rage, I think it’s somewhere in between. He clearly still has feelings about the situation with Natalia or he wouldn’t be so pissy, and it’s fair that he does. It wasn’t THAT long ago. That said, I do think his character is actually a “good guy” (I just hotsnacked), so he is doing it for benevolent reasons as well. It’s an awkward situation, which I think the writers are totally going for. Makes good drama, even if it makes us all want to set up a IV drip of vodka.
I actually did grow up a soap fan, my family watches ABC soaps. I have mostly sworn off AMC right now, but I do watch the trio of AMC, OLTL, and GH a few times a week when I can. My sister still watches them religiously, so she keeps me in the loop.
I will probably check out what CC is up to on DOOL, but that soap is so incredibly fucking awful that unless she’s dressed in a power suit every day, I may not be long for it.
Thank you, for real.
Nicekty – I’m with you. I like white jeans in general, but they require a precision about fit, style, etc. etc.
Nathalie – Liz can have the geek crown. She’s earned it.
Uhaul – Okay, hilarious username. We laugh right along with you (check out the hilarious comments) and have a good time doing it – this show is fun and chock full of things to applaud, snark about, etc. etc.
Everyone knows most millionaires are cheapskate fuckers, ha. Thanks for the awesome compliment!

Kish- Always glad to entertain even if threatened with legal action. :p On that note, get your lawyer on the line because I’m about to make it worse! Go watch THIS and tell me that Otalia didn’t turn into Pepe le Pew and Penelope Pussycat for awhile there once they got out of the Coyote/Roadrunner stage. :p And, Extra Bonus! At about the 6:02 mark you get to see one of my most favorite cartoon gestures of love, second only to hearts being shot from the eyes.
Lana, Snapper, Whatever on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 12:31 am
Hey, the kiss doesn’t make my top ten, either…it’s that apres-kiss exchange about talking to Emma’s teacher I was referring to. I love that move of Olivia’s, and the fact that Natalia is on her own, little trajectory….completely oblivious to Olivia’s little dance-of-snark.
Liz on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 1:14 am
Porter, if you really got pulled over, you are my new hero. Actually, either way you are- because thats funny shit.
And forgive my random comment responding. I will get to everyone, Im just feeling a liiiittle ADD lately. Oh look, something shiny! Did I turn the coffee maker off? I really should loose those last five lbs, I bet I could do it if I started walking after dinner….
Porter on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 3:20 am
I responded to both Liz and Dani via email regarding my previously mention moving violation because I was feeling suddenly self conscious about adding yet another comment to the page, but then I realized it was too late, that the PaaV sucking vortex had already turned this former taciturn lurker into a complete comment/email whore!
So to fully embrace my new found verbosity, I must confirm that, yes, I totally got pulled over and that my would-be arresting officer turned out to be a Sheriff’s Deputy I knew, which is the only reason he let me go with a warning for speeding and didn’t question my sobriety when I couldn’t form a complete a sentence without bursting into teary giggles because I was in middle of listening to the “Soap” section of the podcast.
I told him he should take advantage of the laptop in his cruiser and find PaaV but to pull over when listen for the safety of himself and his fellow motorists…he told me to take my own advice. :p

Ok the hawaiian music playing when Oliva’s car breaks down is wierd, i was waiting for Josh to come into the scene with flowers around his neck doing a little hula dance.
Laugh out loud podcast as usual, looking forward to No.10, can i put in a vote for the bench slide, never fails to turn me into a big ol’ puddle on the floor.
Liz on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 1:43 pm
Kennedy – I love Mahjong. Just dont listen to us while you do the dishes. I do enough of my own dishes. Or laundry. Or anything craptastic for that matter… And I actually didnt recognize the outfit either, Christin emailed or called or something after she saw it and was like, “OMG, thats what she was wearing when we met her!” lol So I’ll join you on the bad fan bandwagon.
Green- bosses are bitches like that. Work. Phew. Didnt she know it was soap week? I will be needing Costa Rica pics for sure!! Have a blast!
Ana- No one will ever stop looking at me funny. All well… CBS is a douche. And shopping totally counts!
Porter- We pride ourselves on a gentle vortex.
I love you for your cartoon references- AND for plugging us to the cop who pulled you over. ROFL This is officially my new fav PaaV story and I love it. Rage timer needs a button (DANI!) and hot snacking causes me to hot snack. I wish she’d stop saying it. Blech.
Notoaster- You’re becoming a regular pancake whore. First twitter and now the blog. Whats next? An email? *gasp* Also, we’re basically anti social too, maybe thats why this works? I randomly scream “Bitches MAKEOUT” throughout my day now, the people in front of me at Target today really appreciated it. I think I will forever be biased towards Frank, but I do think his motives are pure with Rafe. He obviously does still have feelings for Nat- and I can see him making a play for him if he thought Nat was unhappy. But for this last week, Im voting pure. And CC on Days, I really feel like this is simply a stepping stone for her. Thats just my feeling, but Im betting on short contract and she doesnt really care what happens SL wise(the fact that she doesnt know is a big tip off to me that shes not planning to stay long- she has always seemed like she likes to know whats coming). But, thats just my own wild spec / hopes. I dont know much about her web series, but I do know a little about web content and I’m not holding my breath just yet. We’ll see. Thanks!
nicekty- You’re allowed your own white skinny jeans opinion.
I know many people who are on your side.
Uhaul- Im glad you enjoyed it! We aim to not be boring so I’m glad that worked for you.
Diane- I dont know who Nomar is and your comment sounds like Murphy Browns teacher to me. lol
DJ- Obvs, Catch will save the world.
Stargazzer- *snort for the Josh in a lei comment. I’ll raise you one grass skirt and coconut bra.
Thanks everyone for your comments thus far! We really appreciate and geek out over them! Yay for soap!!

Oh hey! I remembered to listen to your podcast this week! I don’t listen much (it’s not you, it’s me, I swear!), but I do like yours the best.
You guys have many great observations, but I have to most vocally agree with the poor choices wardrobe makes in regards to Olivia. Seriously? I know they are on a budget, but they could at least hit Target instead of trolling the K-Mart clearance racks, right? I mean, she *is* a gajillionaire, isn’t she?
And, if you can get it under 30 minutes, I’ll put your podcast on my iPod alternative and take you guys along with me to Antarctica this winter. Totes promise!
greenivy8 on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 2:35 pm
I will definitely provide you with pictures of my ipod being confiscated by a monkey or two. Also I think it’s sweet that you assume my boss is a lady – he’s not. He’s a grumpy man who can’t hear and needs to leave me alone while I’m enjoying the hilarity that you two provide.
Liz on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 4:11 pm
Hah! I actually did assume it was a man but then I was like, “That so sexist Liz! Its probably a super fab lady person.” Sorry I was wrong. lol
And lejunkdrawer- our top ten will be under 30 min I bet. Hell I’d edit you something special and unique to get to take that trip with ya! Antartica sounds like a blast. And dude, yay for Target!

Thanks for making it about Otalia. Was really looking for someone to do that and you two were among the few that really did. *passes the soap**
Wanted to make a comment about last weeks pod, I had disagreed with you about the porch scene until I saw this past week of shows. Apparently the porch scene didn’t mean anything cause Natalie didn’t invite Olivia back but she was over at the FoL all week. Not complaining about that but what was the point of porch scene if it didn’t mean much of anything.

I agree that web content is sketchy/hard to produce independently/hard to monetize, etc. I only want CC’s webseries to be successful because of the possibility that CC will be macking on other hot ladies.
I guess I agree about Frank being genuine. He just really annoys me, I want him to go be a GOOD MAN somewhere else, far away from Otalia. Like in Blake’s pants, for example.
Here are a few of my personal favorite Otalia moments. Aside from the obvious near kiss, “My two mommies” kiss, graveyard confession, unofficial first date, or anything recent. I went a little further back in their history.
After Olivia is told that her body may be rejecting her heart. The argument and the reveal at the end are my fave moments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLIFbFRY7Xk
Dinner w/ Decker.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s390I5oSQmY
“Pathetic Gossips” argument. I love when they argue for some reason. This fight was great because Olivia had just figured out her true feelings for Natalia:

And maybe, just maybe I will email you guys. (Maybe)
Liz on Tue, 16th Jun 2009 8:33 pm
Oh no! I totally want any web endeavors by CC to be successful and I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is where that is concerned. I just know that web content isn’t really making any money and its hard to get produced and so I’m not hinging all my CC hopes and dreams on that just yet. I want it to make it online, I just am not sure it will just yet. Anything that has CC macking hot chicks- I approve of. It feels to me though like she wants to make an Ellen Wheeler esque jump to behind the scenes.
Ali- A- Obvs you should just always listen to us (not really, cause Im usually wrong, lol). And B- we’re all Otalia all the time. Wish we could shut it off sometimes.

Liz: Please, feel free to make me a Super Secret Podcast Seminar (eh? no? that didn’t work so well, did it? Ah well) for my trip. Score! When are you going to do the Top Ten? I have a hard time believing I’ll ever hear a podcast (from you or anyone else) that clocks in under 30 minutes! It just doesn’t seem to be the nature of the beast. But I’m sloooooooowly coming around to realizing that podcasts were just not meant for people with my limited ability to focus on listening for three hours straight. Oh, wait. That’s not you guys. Ha! Nevermind.

Lejunkdrawer: Patagonia? Officially jealous! Never been to South America. Hit me up for the straight dope in 2011, there aren’t many places in NZ I haven’t been to. And this is relevant here because…um….er…Natalia is the only Puerto Rican woman in Springfield and I was the only one in New Zealand. Yeah, that works.

I’m flying off to Calidornia tomorrow, so just a quick off—
One disagreement wit y’all: in THE SCENE, when Natalia says “I’m not afraid [of sex]“, *I* think she totally means it. I mean, sure: on some level, she might have some performance anxiety, but not anything profound. It was only in reaction to Olivia’s being terrified, that Natalia dialed it back (in order to not appear any more POWER bottom than she is!)
Anyway: I w/ you on the loving it!
F’in CBS.

junk drawer- Wanna know a secret? I hate podcasts too. lol It takes a good one to get me to listen to more than 20 min at a time. Top ten coming at you next Friday. This Fri will be Tello. Which if thats under 30 min, we’ve done something wrong.
DJ- if you buy that, we’re never having sex again.
lejunkdrawer on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 12:00 pm
Liz: That secret sucks! lol Now I feel like I’ve lost my identity as the I Hate Podcasts But I Might Love You commenter. Now I’m gonna have to come up with a whole new shtick–damn you! Fie! Blast! I will say this, though, you guys have a pretty decent sound mix and I verrrrrrrrrry much appreciate that.
And, as an old-timey soap fan, I’m sad that GL is ending (yes, sorry, it’s time to stick a fork in her, she’s done), but I’m ridiculously overjoyed at the prospect of seeing a happy, sappy ending to this story.
Lana: I’ve never been to South America, either, so it’ll be an experience for sure! And to keep this relevant, Natalia and I both have brown eyes.
Lana, Snapper, oh...you get it on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 1:05 pm
Do I smell a support group starting up? I HATE podcasts and PaaV is the only one I’ve been able to listen to. It’s basically the audio version of MST3000, but with finger-lickin’ lesbian goodness, a hot snack or two thrown in for good measure.
Lejunkdrawer: make sure you have some Argentine beef seasoned with their parsley/garlic/olive oil chimichurri (sometimes called “Pirijil”) when you’re in Buenos Aires…we had a close family friend from Argentina who was the most amazing BBQ chef…and her secret was the pirijil. Relevant:
I sometimes think Olivia and my girlfriend are raiding one another’s closets – vests, cool jackets, those long-sleeved t-shirty things that Liz doesn’t like, and really nice bags.
Liz on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 1:47 pm
Oh no! Im so sorry to have rocked your world so violently. I feel bad now… And our sound is awful, but I dont really know how to make it better. lol Its already way better than it used to be. And yay for brown eyes and irrelevance!
And Lana, +10 geek points for MST3000. Hot snacking is gross and has become way too large a part of my life.
Porter on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 1:57 pm
I was president of the He-Man Podcast Haters Club before PaaV came along. Liz and Dani together are like auditory crack…one can’t hear enough.
Lana – I can’t believe you just used “finger-lickin’” and “hotsnack” in the same sentence. The stomach churns. :p
Nathalie on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 2:09 pm
I tried to use “hot snack” in a sentance today at work, but it came out as “hot snatch”. Shockingly, it didn’t evolke the same response. I’m pretty sure that whatever raise I was getting this year just went out the door with whatever shred of self-respect I still had. I’m still hiding in my office! LOL.
Dani on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 2:14 pm
Porter/lejunkdrawer/Lana – I never liked podcasts either. Well, okay, I only really ever tried to listen to one, but I could never make it through. So yup, it’s a compliment that you guys listen – even I break it up over a couple of sessions.
Nathalie – ROFL. Thank you for making me choke on my green tea. I refuse to accept blame for that Freudian slip!
Liz – I would give up many things for you, but hot snack is not one of them. It’s too perfect.
Porter on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 2:43 pm
Nathalie – Best.Story.Ever. Still wiping up the Pepsi that spewed forth from my nose upon first reading. Dani, do you have a special word for that phenomenon as well?
lejunkdrawer on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 3:15 pm
Lana: Considering I’m just about the worst excuse for a vegetarian that you’ve never met, I will, indeed, try some of that Argentine beef.
Liz: The sound really is not *that* bad. I can hear you both without jacking up the volume to ear splitting levels for one or the other of you. Or, you could try harder to both be in the same room at the same time. I mean, how important IS this podcast to you anyway?
Nathalie: That.Is.Awesome. LOL!
Lana, Snapper, oh...you get it on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 4:08 pm
I’m trying to image the sentence that ended in “snatch” instead of “snack” :
“Just the thought of eating giant desert grubs causes a hot snatch”? “Sex with Frank Cooper? Hot snatch!” “Tubgirl is hot snatch-inducing!”
Lejunkdrawer: If you’re a sometime vegetarian, you might like the blog I posted last night.
Nathalie on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 4:16 pm
Word for word? It was actually, “If those guys from Post bring their nasty roach coach burritos to the meeting again today I may just hot snatch.” Nice, right? Kinda colors in the picture for you a little more doesn’t it. GAH!

random note: what a lovely bunch of freaks we are.
RT #iHATEHATEHATEpodcastsbutyoursistasty : PaaV and KC&Elka are my ones and onlies.
Lana, Snapper, oh...you get it on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 5:48 pm
Nathalie – that is comedy gold!
And PaaV has clearly become the official Twitter alternative for Otalia obsessives and hot snackers.
Liz on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 6:08 pm
OMG I am dead. Hot snatch. Awesome.
dj on Wed, 17th Jun 2009 8:12 pm
Liz – Well, in that case, I totally just canceled my order for that leopard-print snuggie. Wait, I mean I never ordered it in the first place! I don’t even know what a snuggie is! oh frak.
Nathalie – WIN.
Finally, I just tried to write my email address as @otalia.com and wondered for about ten seconds why that didn’t look correct.
Lynn on Thu, 18th Jun 2009 7:03 pm
Dani and Liz, I love listening to you both enormously and think you are the queen and queen of Otalia podcasts, but goodness gracious sweet podcastinators, how could you not like Liv’s tight, white tapered jeans? Have you lost your ability to reason?
Lynn
Liz on Thu, 18th Jun 2009 7:50 pm
Oh Lynn. Buttering me up won’t make me change my mind about the pants. I never claimed to be reasonable.
Those are some very nice compliments though. I am going to put ‘podcastinator’ on my business card.
