Its been a tough, angsty, somewhat frustrating week. Whos up for some “Would you Rather?” with Lana from Superhero Lunchbox? We managed to talk a little Guiding Light as well – San Cristobel shenanigans and all.
Just when we think we’ve figured out the sound, we jack it up again. I need to say something smart and funny because we have an echo issue, but this is about all Im feeling. I killed it as much as possible but not entirely. Sorry guys.

Great pod guys. I love Snapper’s articles, always so insightful and so true.
rapemance is lame, and I don’t understand the appeal.
Reva is also lame, and I don’t understand her appeal either. But, I like KZ, despite all the ACTING! and scenery-chewing.

Loved the pod, as always.
Rape, love, and marriage are just not words that should go together in the same sentence. Gross. I have never understood the Luke/Laura appeal.
Olivia and Reva’s history with San Cristobel was fuzzy at best so this was a huge refresher. Superhero Lunchbox is awesome and made of win, as are Dani and Liz

Thanks, guys. I really needed this after all of the angst and sadness. You two are like my weekly (and sometimes in between) trip to the chiropractor’s…not that there’s any validity to me having a chiropractor…or a need for me to visit her regularly. I guess what I’m saying is that you guys de-stressed me just in time for the holiday weekend. Thanks.
By the by, Dani, I think your show idea is great. I have a vague recollection–maybe from one of my amnesia periods–of a similar show where the host offered cash for dares, only when the person denied the cash, he would increase the amount until the person agreed. Something along those lines. Like I said, it’s all pretty vague.

In related news… Yesterday I met Doris. Doris is lovely, caring, strong and wonderfully insane. And gay. big fat thumb-ring gay. She made me smile. Thumb-ring gayness makes me ridiculously happy sometimes. I gave her a bottle of wine.

Aww, Luke and Laura. Didn’t Richard Simmons own that disco where Luke raped Laura? I was too young to understand what was going on, so I was totally in love with Luke and Laura. Although, Tiffany and Sean were a close second. I loved Tiffany. Her reaction, when Laura came back from the dead was the best.

Like Lana, I was also in HS during the Luke/Laura era and we always referred to the Herb Alpert song as “music to be raped by”. Our group was split on Tony Geary’s hotness (but we all loved Rick Springfield when he came on the show). GH was so popular that after school got out at 1:40pm so we would literally run (pre-vcr days) to the house of whoever lived closest to school to watch at 2pm.
Looking back, it all seems so wrong that we were not that disturbed by this, but it was a different time and terms like “date rape” and “acquaintance rape” were not an everyday part of the lexicon and certainly not discussed even as part of a sex ed curriculum (and I attended a relatively forward thinking California school). The shame is not that it happened but that they still have these sorts of plots.
On a more innocent note, we were completely consumed by whether Kristy MacNicoll would have sex with Leif Garrett on Family. Compare that to 90210 version 1.0 just 10 years later where the question was not “whether I should” but “who’s next?”.
