No need to hotsnack: Rick and Olivia have never been an item. Rick, however, has been Philip’s best friend since childhood, so there’s a bit of a platonic/friendship connection there. Believe it or not, Rick Bauer used to be really charming and adorable about 20 years ago. Like REALLY, really puppy-dog cute. I swear this is true.

Dani is so right, Liz…you need to know about Citizen Kane, because it’s referenced so often in pop culture. The Simpsons makes reference to it all the time, and they even had an episode that was completely a CK take-off (Pretty sure it’s called “Rosebud.”) Family guy references CK, as well. I even remember watching that show Pete and Pete with my nephew once, and there was a snowglobe shaking scene that was clearly a homage to Citizen Kane. Pretty much any time you see a snow globe in a movie or tv, it’s a CK reference.

Don’t watch it….I’m pretty sure IMDB or WIKI have summaries that will explain all.

And Dani’s dad sounds cool. I want to go out drinking with him, but he has to leave the gun at home.

Topic: Dani’s reaction to Ava was exactly my reaction – she had that “something smells bad” look on her face. And, really, it made me a little sad that people are all “OMG, I LOVE AVA SO MUCH, NOW!!!!” just because she’s cool about her mother loving a woman. It’s nice, but Ava is still a ridiculous character played by a bad actress. Who’s hot. It’s sad that the fact she *isn’t a complete douchebag* about her newly gay mother (I’ve decided to be as anti no-label as possible) makes her lovable. I love you! You’re so NOT homophobic!!!!

girlboston – god, I hate commuting. I was 5 minutes late to work today because some douche drove into the back of someone else’s car.

Lana – For the record, my dad does not own any guns. He’s all talk. Re: Ava, yes, our standards have been lowered. I’m strictly ambivalent about her at this point. Her presence was a nice break from solo nutcase Olivia. That, and she’s hot.

liz – it wasn’t so much that the dreamy “daddy you would do” is 52, but that you suggested cc was old enough to be your parent as well (and she’ll be 44 – tomorrow!) that is the same age i am, which is why i teased about your age – not a reflection on you or dani, but simply suggesting that i can’t possibly be that old, lol

pretty scary that your dad expects your tastes would lean more towards paul newman (who died last year at 83)and/or robert redford (73)…hmm, that’s a picture

and dani, you’ve called me both a douchebag, and now a wussie…if i were prone to low self esteem, i guess i could write this off as exposure thereapy, lol

Saw JL in Peapack the other week. She is even more smokin hot looking so whenever the hell she gets back she be worth it. Asked ppl in Peapack today to yell out to CC/JL “Bitches Make Out” but they instead used the polite ineffective version “have you kissed yet”… no response. Where does someone get an official “Bitches Make Out” t-shirt?

Did anyone notice the funeral changed locations in the middle of it? went from the park to the ballfield which is across the street. Either way still not sure why Ava/Liv were in the dugout. I am not a fan of Ava or the actress.

Seems like a PaaV trend lately to have family members as guests. Who will we get next?

Why am I commenting at all on any of this? well because I forgot my comments so this is all I can come up with on short notice. I will take notes next time. Love you guys.

Lana- Listen, I still dont believe its refrenced “so often” since I have lived my 13 years without having seen it and I havent missed anything yet.
And Dani’s dad is cool. When I asked for his daughters hand in marriage he offered his fist to my jaw instead. I declined.
Also- I dont know what that clip was supposed to illustrate. I am dense.

Heather- Glad to have you on the redunculous train.

Maggie23- Clearly my dad and I do not often conversate about which old guys I find dreamy. I probably should remedy this, but I wont. And also, I am sure that YOU are not at all old enough and are way to hot (as is CC) to be my mom. However, I did just delet a sexually suggestive response to you, so perhaps this has tainted our friendship. I need to reflect and get back to you.

Porter- My mom is now supah jealous my dad was on and she wasn’t. lol Maybe I’ll call her this week to ask about Peanut Butter or goldfish? We’ll see how we’re feeling, and if she’s asleep. She’s old you see. Old people sleep a lot.
And we are high maintenance. But totally worth it.

Ali- I am eternally jealous of your eyeballs. And I am unsure why you would not get paav w/ JL pics, but since tello got us a video I suppose I shall forgive you.

Some really rad peeps already have one, myself included. Dani is lame and does not. Their sizes do run very small though- just a warning. I buy 2 sizes up. The mens sizing is more true to size though, so I’ve also bought the mens sizes. Also its super fun to call zazzle because they wont say ‘bitches’ so its awesome.

“Hands down the pants” and “The mommy almost died park” were comedy gold.

I’ve never liked Ava and totally supported Olivia’s decision to have her whacked. MRS is not very good and instead of raising her performance level, I think being in scenes with CC actually accentuates her lack of talent.

Liz, the good thing about watching Citizen Kane is never again having to hear, “Oh My God, you’ve never seen Citizen Kane?”;)

Olivia had a line last week that bugged me a bit. You guys didn’t talk about it and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone across the interwebs discuss the line, so maybe I’m just being sensitive. It was in the scene with Josh in the hallway. She asked Josh, “Are you trying to take advantage of me in my drunken state?” I know it was supposed to be cute, flirty banter with a completely non-threatening Josh, but it just seemed like very poor word choice from a woman who was raped in pretty much those exact circumstances. I also know that the rape was whitewashed, so that Jeffery could be a hero, but the writers have to know that probably more fans than not, don’t accept that history re-write. Do you guys have any thoughts on the subject? Should I lighten up?:)

Your dads are awesome. I’m jealous.

My word for the week: Reamed! That will probably be my word for the week until Sept. 18.

My Otalia trivia question, not that you asked for one. What is the name on the tombstone behind Olivia, in the graveyard confession scenes?

Ok so you all asked for someone with medical knowledge to respond as if is was true that you could tell from blood work if you have been drinking even if it has been a couple of days.

The answer is yes depending on the amount of alchol consumed and also what medications you are on. your enzymes would still be out of wack but I’m not really sure about the fatty acid balance.
Any ways hope that helps.
Oh and loved the podcast at least it was something to laugh about this week. I miss “Dimples”.

Tallulah- Dani is a comedic genius. And I told Dani I’d watch Citizen Kane with her, but she’d have to keep me interested. Nit sure yet what that will entail but we’ll see.
That line from Olivia did annoy me, but obviously Olivia was drunk but not incoherent- so whatever. Honestly, at this point, I’d take 100 lines I believe but are annoying over the same line 100 times or 100 stupid nonsense lines. So I dunno, the Jeffrey thing did so much damage I guess I let that line slide, even though I def see it as harmful.
And I remember seeing Lane, and Smith behind Natalia at one point.

Liquor and Blood Test–I had bloodwork done for a life insurance physical and I received an incomprehensible print out of the results (FWIW I did pass). I looked up all the medical terminology and most of the tests were of liver function, so yes, I guess they can determine if you are drinker, although I think that any narcotic, including nicotine, would affect liver function. Guess Dr. Rick knew that Liv is not a smoker and presumed that she doesn’t partake of any illegal substances, so liquor was the only vice left. On the other hand, why were we even expecting any realism in soap medicine?

The whole ava scene was like a drive by confession. it was a like combining crack and acting class.

Alli’s vids are so wonderful. She has a truly knows how to layer a vid. when you pay attention there is always more than one messaged delivered. She deserves a huge shout out for being both gracious and genius!

Thanks again for making me laugh and think at the same time.. I feel like a multi-tasker.
