Well weirdos, this is it. At least for Otalia and Guiding Light. This is the last time we’ll make fun of Frank Cooper (this is not the last time we’ll make fun of Frank). The last time we’ll mention how hot Olivia Spencer is (this is not the last time we’ll mention how hot Olivia Spencer is). The last time we’ll….you get the idea. We’ve had a week to mull over the Guiding Light finale, join us for the wrap up podcast.

Don’t worry darlings, we’ll be continuing this podcast. The focus will change, obviously, but we promise the same faux smart snarkery that you’ve grown to know and love.

Mushy note from Liz (cause I don’t do the outro): Thank you so much for your support and the time you give me and Dani each week. Y’all have been incredible when you didnt even know it. I have learned so much from you guys, received so many amazing emails, and made so many awesome friends that I will carry with me in my heart place and my blackberry. We have had the pleasure of talking with a very diverse group of women, about everything from soap plot lines to shark attacks, “soap” and self confidence. We are very blessed. I am humbled by what we’ve all built here, and I cannot wait to see what is next for the whole PaaV crew. See you soon!! XOXO

Anyway, let’s get to the good stuff!

      Yay you’re back :D
Hi this is my first comment…*waves hello* I’ve been listening since the first pod and I was gonna comment on that one but then my comment disappeared when I was posting it and I just never got around to comment again.. but I’ve loved your ranting and snark and everything else as I’ve listened to you while I walk my dog getting weird looks from other dog walkers in the park since I go around laughing so much :D
Anyway great that you’re gonna continue with the pods and I actually liked the book review one so feel free to do more of em, random facts and getting told whether or not it’s a happy ending seemed perfect for me but then I don’t usually like book reviews…
Ok that’s it from me of to listen…

NIce job, girl, even if it did take until the alcohol poisoning wore off to get around to it. No apology is needed re the declaration of Springfield’s Lesbian Mafia being hotter than The Four Musketeers. The only one of the lesbians I’d categorize as “HOT” is Olivia, but she out-hots everyone else in Springfield. besides, the 4Ms are not a hot, sexy group, they’re a sentimental favorite. Like re-visiting The Breakfast Club.

My suggested link: anyone who loved Guiding Light – and especially those who acknowledge that it wasn’t The Otalia Show – should really check out Patrick Erwin’s pieces about the end of the show. He wrote a whole slew of great pieces during the last few weeks of GL’s run and, while I don’t agree with 100% of what he says, he’s pretty spot on. Plus, Patrick is an awesome guy and a fine writer, who knows what he’s talking about. Go to
http://1000worlds.wordpress.com/ and just look over his pieces for the month of September. Hell, just bookmark it and always check out what Patrick has to say – it’s always good.

Excuse me…It was a bubbler not a BONG. My lovely hippie grandfather gave it to me for my b-day. DON’T JUDGE ME.

      Anyway…

1.It almost felt as if the final week was filler. A bunch of useless scenes to fill the time until…nothing. It was extremely anticlimactic.

2.Jamanda looked like she was on her way to her senior prom. Doris should have given the girl a corsage.

      3. Edmund and Jeffery eventually fell in love. One year later, flash to Jedmund’s Connecticut wedding.

The Guiding Light I loved will be forever on youtube, and I’m going to pretend like the last few months of this show never happened. I’ll miss Springfield, but mostly I will miss your witty observations on GL’s clusterfuckery. I love you guys!

    4. Porter on Mon, 28th Sep 2009 6:27 pm

Aw, the Guiding Light era of PaaV has come to an end. Sad. :(

You two have been endlessly entertaining and I can’t help but smile when I think back to the early days of PaaV when Dani was still offering up her futon to JLH and Liz was obsessively counting every elapsed second of Nat & Liv’s longing looks. :)

Thanks for making the golden days of Otalia great and the bad days bearable.

And who knew my pre-PaaV vocab was so lacking? Thanks for “hot snack,” “anchovy shake” and the many forms and usages of “douche” and “asshat.”

I heart you muchly and can’t wait to see what the PaaV snark machine tackles next. :p

    5. Nathalie on Mon, 28th Sep 2009 6:42 pm

I am innocent of all charges, and f*ck you too Dani. ;-)

      Cue sappy music

I wish I had a bigger heart so that I could lubs you guys more. I actually started watching Otalia because of you guys (I’m backwards, but you know that), and so Guiding Light or not you’re stuck with me. I know this may change your mind about continuing the pod, but whatevs…Liz has taught me to be a good stalker.

      End sappy music

      Now…where’s my mojito?

    6. Ali on Mon, 28th Sep 2009 7:25 pm

Agree Otalia storyline was completed the week prior. Otalia was left as a happy family who were surrounded by an accepting community…. not a bad ending. It’s one I can accept. I read fanfic for the rest.

The last week had some nice moments with lots of big smiles and excellent lustful emoting on Jessica & Crystal’s parts. Natalia’s dress was the worst wedding dress! and yes, that was all Jessica the last day (from people that were there). Olivia’s outfit also didn’t match well with sitting on bleachers. They should have had Olivia holding the baby in that scene to hammer home the “we are a family” point better – jmo.

WTH was Thursday! a total waste of airtime for the entire show. a few too many “bit players” had way too much screen time.

Ending was very smaltzie but better then Buzz’s oven blowing up & killing all of Springfield. I enjoyed it.
Was with a group of people I got to know from watching this show , blah blah blah *sniffle* & all that but have to add gained many good things from this experience.

Couldn’t finish out the Otalia experience without hearing from Liz and Dani. (Brag about CNN forever cuz it was big and not just cause your web design is lighter. Pats on back.) Glad you made it safely off elevators, planes, & autos so you could get back to do it. Might not have agreed with everything you had to say over these many months but laughed so often & not at you… well there was that time…

Last useless thought, I support Dani and her thumbring thinking & so do many in our locale… Dani you are our freakin super hero… although I do love Liz’s sarcasm…

    7. ashhh on Mon, 28th Sep 2009 10:20 pm

natalia’s dress was just awful. i don’t understand why they thought it was okay for her to wear that. i’m sure it made sense in 1991, when i bet it was made, but not now.

i think i sent you guys an email once, but other than that, nothing. i’m shitty. but i had to show ya some love since it’s your last podcast – for gl/otalia, anyway. i really enjoyed this podcast. most of the time, it was better than the show. for reals. i’m glad this isn’t the end, that you’ll be podcasting for something else, ’cause you two are very entertaining and hilarious. i’m always laughing when i listen.

i dunno what else to say, guess that’s all i got. i’m bad at comments.

      thank you guys!!

    8. Heather on Tue, 29th Sep 2009 8:56 am

Of course I’m sad to see GL go, but let’s face it, it left us a few months back, so I’m kinda glad it’s over now. These last few months have been like watching a loved one suffer. When they finally pass away, you know they’re no longer in pain. Sleep well, Guiding Light.

You know I love you guys. You’re rad. You’re heroes to awesomely nerdy fangirls. Blah, blah, yadda, yadda. I heart the PaaV family you have created. I have always felt like your podcast was a way of weeding out the “crazy but in a good way” Otalia fans. Looking forward to what’s on your horizon. In closing, I don’t care what I do now, as long as I’m with you.

It feels like graduation day. Will you guys sign my yearbook?

P.S. Liz – Once, I was in a glass elevator 74 floors up, and a runaway train went speeding by. I thought of you.

    9. Mia on Tue, 29th Sep 2009 9:44 am

gahh I loved KC and Elka..especially their drunk summer time podcasts. okay going to go back and listen now..more commentary to come

    10. Mia on Tue, 29th Sep 2009 12:33 pm

Jessica could have worn her own maternity clothes..that blue dress was a hot ass mess..clearly they weren’t trying to make Jessica look like shit

    11. stargazzer77 on Tue, 29th Sep 2009 9:22 pm

Well i was getting ready to say thanks for the podcasts n goodbye and all that other sappy crap but seems your planning on sticking around i wont bother..i look forward to #24

    12. Dani on Tue, 29th Sep 2009 11:25 pm

Vesla – Thanks and welcome! You might be the only one who enjoyed the book review, ha. But yes, we’ll be around, so don’t go anywhere.

Lana – I’m sure you meant “girls,” right? Hooch.

notoaster – That’s my plan. Ignore the wretched crap and relive the glory days on youtube when Grey’s pisses me off.

Porter – Thanks for being awesome. We love you!

Nathalie – If I promise to buy you a mojito, will you continue imparting your vast wisdom onto me? If so, deal.

Ali – Yay! I’m a superhero, huh? I am printing this comment out to hang on my wall when Liz and Nathalie gang up on me. ;)

ashhh – Thanks for listening, and that comment was perfect. We certainly hope you stick around, ya’ll made this pod worth doing.

Heather – We felt the same way. By the time this week rolled around, we were kknd of ready to pull the plug on GL. But we’ll miss snarking on the Coopers! Glad you’ll be staying with us.

Mia – I feel as though I’ve missed out on something momentous because I’ve never listened to KC and Elka, but I trust Liz’s fangirling enough to imaging they had to be good.

Mia – If only they knew it’s impossible to make Jessica look like shit, they just made themselves look like amateurs!

      stargazzer77 – see you soon!

    13. Rikita on Wed, 30th Sep 2009 2:15 pm

Not much to say other than the bitch is dead long live the new bitch whatever that may be. I just needed your snarky and dead honest eulogy on the thing in order to be ready to move on. Liz, I’m hoping Venice gives JL lots and lots for you to rave on endlessly about and brings us all scads of her adorably dimpledness.

    14. yesiam1 on Wed, 30th Sep 2009 3:00 pm

Wait a minute, this can’t be over just like that? I know you are planing to cover other shows (helllllo Venice), but can’t we all find some good excuse, why you still can dedicate one or two pods to Otalia and friends? Like you never discussed Doris’ coming out to Ashlee because of technical difficultes on that particular friday. I think that is a good enough excuse. And you could also just go back to the beginning and be snarky about the good old days.

Enough lamented. I wanna say THANK YOU so much for all the laughter and spot on comments on my favorite tv-couple ever. You have no idea how much I was looking forward to mondays for listening to your podcasts.

I am curious how your side and pods are develop over the course of time. Be sure, that I will still follow your updates.

Have a great day and best wishes from good old Europe.

    15. Lana on Wed, 30th Sep 2009 4:05 pm

Dani – I wish I had the bitchy fortitude to say no, my comments were directed at you, alone, and not that teenage drunk who continues to call me a liar. But it was, indeed, a typo, and I’m reserving my bitchy fortitude for those who truly deserve it. It’s not a lie: I really do love you *and* Liz.

    16. Sylvia Matthews on Sat, 3rd Oct 2009 6:19 pm

CNN, wow too cool I didn’t get to see that damn! Do you have it on video, if so will you link it? Do you know if it’s on you tube I sure would like to see it.

One little comment before I get into this. I love both of you equally for who you are as individual podcastors. Your styles are different and that is another ting among the many that has made this so much fun for me.

      Direction?
How about doing this for the Venice series and Days. CC is still great no matter who she plays! I will miss my Olivia, thank god for youtube! I do and have always loved Olivia.

On one of the lists I’m on way back when the very first rumor was revealed about the show really ending a question was asked about what you wanted to see happen before the show eneded and I said I wanted them to write Olivia a real love, to have a real partner.

I got my wish bigger and better than I could have hoped for so I’m not so unhappy with some of the omissions and little mis-steps along that way.

As to the endings of Guiding Light I had to make my personal peace with how things were handled. Once I knew that there would be no on screen kiss I let my imagination go where it would because they are both living at the FoL in the same bed. :-)

It’s been quite fun actually my imaginatings. Not pornographic but sex all the same. I mean I wouldn’t want to see them actually coming or anything but I do like to see them doing some things. My favorite imagining is of their first time.

I loved how they brought the ill named Jamanda out with Doris to the wedding. I thought Doris looked great in that green dress, it clutched her well, layed on all the right curves.

Reva, I too wish there’d been just a bit more with her and Olivia. They’ve been so connected for a lot of years going way back to the early days of San Cristobel when Reva was with Prince Richard.

You could see that they were trying to get to some of that having them tease each other about their new lives. I just wish there’d been more than two hit and run encounters with them. I will imagine them as finally being friends once Josh and Reva and Colin get home from their adventure.

      Goodbye Guiding Light
      wery big sigh

One of the things I’ve always liked about your podcast is that you don’t curb your snarkyness. It surprised me how often you saw the same things I did and thought the same thing about them.

Lana never contacted me again so I guess that project went bust. I hope you two have so much fun keeping up the next phase of your endeavor that you won’t get tired of doing it. I meant to ask what cost money in doing it?

Okay I’m getting really tired of typing I’ll talk to you later.

    17. Sylvia Matthews on Sat, 3rd Oct 2009 6:45 pm

      oooooops forgot to say this:
I loved, loved, loved Dinah and Mallet at the end. They were together so long ago and that got all screwed up with one thing and another, Dinah being shot in the head by Griggs and Lizzie’s kidnapping and a raft of stuff that made it hard fir them to reconcile their relationship him being a cop and she being, well on the edges of crime.

I remember when she got so exasperated with him that she burned things of his as a way to deal him out of her life. It started some kind of fire that jsut got her in more trouble poor Dinah. lol

So it was good for me as a long time viewer to see them get back together and also for Shayne and Marina who were each others first love. Different actors of course, I never really cared for Mandy Brunos Marina but I did like Jeff Branson’s Shayne. No matter, that, I loved it that they wound up together.

It was kind of like all of the high school sweethearts got back together. I liked that a lot well loved it really.

Sorry for any typos, this isn’t really my gig, typing I’m a musician. ;-) So long again from Anchorage, Alaska

And finally, “Bitches, Make Out!” [With or w/o thoughts of CC in your head, Dani. Still peeved that you didn't ask La Chappell 'bout her reaction to that! ;-p]
